1 tray will take from 128 ft2 to 500 ft2 of garden space. I am in zone 7/6 with a last frost date of May 15, I start planting 1st of June. I plant on the weekends therefore I sow the seeds on a Wednesday. This process requires 9 days and you will have field ready transplants. I'd like to share my experiences with growing corn transplants, I have successfully grown transplanted corn for 3 years. Who knows, maybe next summer I will have the water run to it PERMANENTLY Happy Growing Kathy :-) I had water run to the structure, and there is heat, but the water gets turned off in the winter. This she shed / greenhouse is mostly 3 season. After tons of researching, I think I have found the solution.

AND, something that is not going to produce too many permanent holes in the white washed pine walls. What I am looking for is 2 shelves on top of the bases, that can be removed when not needed. So as to not have any warping or shifting as well as provide stability, I am a somewhat of an 'Aesthetic OCD' kind of person. Of course there will be additional strength supports that will be hidden. Now, he is going to construct a 2' face board with a 4' wide depth board, that will be routed out to hold securely the metal shelving that will rest within.

The bases I like, but the 2 shelves above them will now have a 2' face board instead of a 4' face board. He did make me (1) three tier unit, per my instructions, but once done, I didn't like it. We (my sweetie) still needs to make shelves for in front of the windows. You must be extremely productive! :-) That is awesome. Seabird66 Yours is GREAT! What a wonderful work environment. I understand from the posts I have read that I need to plant them up to their first leaves but can I just add soil to the pots they are already in? I was SO excited by the first growth(ok.it's a newbie thing:))and I am really hoping that I can save the rest of them. They are doing fine but here is the real question.the leggy ones that have not outgrown their pots are so delicate I can't imagine trying to dig them out and transplant them individually and I don't have enough pots (or room) to do this anyways. I have already planted up the ones that no longer fit their pots by just putting the whole peat pot in a larger one. Now I have a ton of leggy flowers and veggies. I kept reading not to place the grow lights too close to the plants but it wasn't until too late that I realized too far is no good either.

This is my first year starting with seeds and I've made my first big mistake. I hope this hasn't been answered before but I read through a ton of threads and couldn't find a specific answer.
